1928 – 2004

With great sadness we announce the passing of Helen Bennetto. She left us peacefully with her family by her side on September 19, 2004. Born Helen Agnes Warder at Birch Hills, Saskatchewan in 1928, Helen moved to Vernon in 1969 having married Larry Bennetto in Saskatoon in 1961. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Larry, children Jack (Diana) Bennetto, Marsha (Dave) Thompson, Dawn (David) Poggemiller and Murray (Dimple) Bennetto, seven grandchildren, sister Beth, brother Art, and many dear friends. Helen is predeceased by her first husband Jack Goodman in 1957 and by her siblings Frank, Sid and Lois.

Helen had a quick mind and curiosity for “new things” that she used to adapt to our ever-changing world. She experienced the thrill as a teenager of learning to drive a “model A”; and until recently watched 2 of her grandchildren on the Internet while they played at a daycare center in Hong Kong.

Helen was very active throughout her life, and she was an avid tennis player, skier and golfer. Love, care and encouragement for her family were vital to her. She had amazing gifts of grace and support, which she would constantly show in all of her relationships throughout her life. We, her many friends and large family, will miss her love, wisdom and grace.

A Memorial service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held on October 3, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity United Church, 3300 Alexis Park Drive, Vernon, BC.
