HELMUTH MANN

Helmuth Mann

was born on November 27th, 1955 in Oliver BC. After a brief illness he passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, January 10th, 2008 in Westview Health Center, Stony Plain, Alberta. Helmuth lived in Oliver until the age of two and continued his life in Vernon. Helmuth attended B.X. Elementary School and continued high school at V.S.S. From there he worked after school for Johnny Nagie at Empire Meats as a meat cutter. He followed his dad (Jacob Mann) in the trade of bricklaying for his Uncle, Fred Mann, and cousin Bob Mann. Helmuth had been a long time employee of Gracom Construction up until his passing. Helmuth was distinguished in his trade from the beginning. He made a bet with his dad that he would win the Golden Trowel Award and did in 1977. Helmuth’s specialty was building brick archways and spiral columns and he was very proud of many great works as a journeyman bricklayer/stone mason. Some of his trade accomplishments were Priest Valley Arena, Vernon R.C.M.P., Vernon Secondary School, Revelstoke R.C.M.P. building, Sparwood Gates and many more throughout Canada.

His greatest pride were his two children, Katie Nicole and Deven James. Helmuth was involved in a number of sports, soccer being he and Katie’s passion. Helmuth also enjoyed fishing, hunting and most all, getting firewood with Deven. He was very sports oriented and enjoyed watching his nephews play hockey.

Helmuth touched many lives in the short time he was with us. He always had a smile and his beautiful blue eyes could light up a room. In his final years he enjoyed the things he loved the most with his wife Carol.

Helmuth will be greatly missed and always remembered by his wife Carol, his two children Katie Nicole and Deven James, stepchildren Christopher (Kim), Joshua and Megan Cameron, mother Elli Mann, brothers Horst (Pat), Werner (Lorry), Harold (Bonnie), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts. Helmuth was predeceased by father, Jacob Mann and Uncle Fred Mann. Helmuth will also be missed by his many life long friends.

Rest in peace. We love you. Now you are free.
