Henry Krusel, a long-time resident of Vernon passed away May 24, 2018 at the age of 94 after being struck by a car while on his scooter.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughter Darlene (Ian) Brown of Vancouver; son Allan (Shirley) Krusel of Edmonton, and son Don (Gail) Krusel of Victoria and Prince Rupert; three granddaughters: Kristin Brown, Brianna Brown, and Olivia Krusel; grandson Robert Krusel; step-grandchildren: Michelle, Nicole, Holly, and Calum; and numerous step-great-grandchildren.
Henry is the third oldest descendant of August and Julianna Krusel; the Krusel family has lived in Vernon since 1936. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers: Arthur, Ernest, and Sig; and sister Tilly.
He is fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Cindy; brothers: Lou and Bill (Irene); sisters: Evelyn, Lenora, Delores (Rudy) and Lorraine; and many nieces and nephews.
Henry was a Veteran of World War II, principally serving in the Lincoln & Welland Regiment, Fourth Canadian Division, from January 1944 to June 1946 in Canada, Britain, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He received the 1939-45 Star plus several other medals and decorations.
A big thank you is extended to his family doctor, Dr. LeRoux, and the staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital for their excellent medical care. Also a thank you to the kind, caring friendly staff at Canterbury Court.
A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Pleasant Valley Cemetery followed by a 2:00 pm Memorial Reception and Celebration of Life at Canterbury Court - 3011 Gateby Place, Vernon. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Henry A Krusel's memory would be greatly appreciated.
