July 5, 1934 – April 28, 2006
In loving memory of Herbert Leslie Francis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend to all. Herb was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on July 5, 1934 to Martin & Elsie Francis. He moved to Enderby when he was one year old. Herb met Shirley Schmidt and married her in July 16, 1955, and continued to make Enderby his home. Many will fondly remember Herb for having a kind word to say to them as they picked up their mail at the Enderby Post Office where he worked for some 37 years before retiring in 1992 at 58 years of age. Herb was very fond of building and flying model airplanes when younger; fishing of which he was always the one to catch any; boating (he built 2 wood boats) and was well known for fixing clocks and watches for friends and neighbours. He also loved vacations with family and friends; be it camping at Shuswap Lake and fishing or going to California, Arizona & Hawaii. He will always be fondly remembered as a calm, kind, gentle, caring and spiritually minded man.
Herb was best known for his faith in his God, Jehovah and his Kingdom, of which he was loyal to untill his death. He dedicated his life to do God’s will July 1, 1942. Sharing his Bible Knowledge of God’s Kingdom with others occupied much of Herb’s life. Herb was a loyal & faithful servant of Jehovah God as part of the Enderby congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Herb is survived by Shirley, his loving wife of 50 years; one son Ron (Aggie) Francis; one daughter Kim Francis; two grandsons Rhys and Rhett Francis; one granddaughter Malia Francis. Herb contended with various serious health problems for the past ten years and fell asleep in death on April 28, 2006 at the Hospice House in Vernon. Herb is awaiting a resurrection to life on this earth again in Jehovah’s God’s promised paradise as the Bible foretells in Acts 5:28, 29. He will be dearly missed by all who look forward to welcoming him back in this resurrection. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at 2:30 p.m., at Enderby Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Paul Mitchell officiating.
