Choosing this picture was easy & if you knew our beloved Son, Brother, Dad, Uncle, Cousin & Friend, you'd know he was happiest working on/in or under a vehicle, tractor or farm implement, mucking around in the woods, raiding Mom's gardens or digging for hidden treasures, which he was a collector of many, some hidden & some not so much ... & some of it, down right cringe worthy but he knew exactly where to find stuff, if you needed it!!
He loved unconditionally, his 3 kids Karen, Mike & Ethan Burgess. He worked in & around Vancouver area in the produce business for 20 years, then installing security systems before moving to the family farm property around 1990, at which time he & Mom took over the huge job of clearing & cleaning up a plot of land to grow garlic, for several years going forward he worked the field & land, maintained equipment, did marketing for the farm, sold product etc.
He was then offered a maintenance position at a nearby resort where his mechanical, social and general Jack of all trades skills came into play! He remained at this job until retiring at 65.
As a valued asset to the resort they left him with a company phone & consulted often because he, literally, knew the entire place inside out, upside down & under.
He will be missed by anyone who had the good fortune to know this smart, quiet, loyal, gentle soul.
He is survived by Mom & Dad, Gay & Sandy Burgess, Sister Lisa Lauzon (Gord Wiffen), Daughter & Sons Karen, Michael & Ethan Burgess, Nephew Jamie Lauzon, Nieces Dana Schnyder (Jamie), Tracy Johnston (Tanner) Step Nieces & Nephew Alycia Ohashi (Brent), Brittany Paulson (Ryan) & Adam Wiffen (Sam) & 9 Great Nephews & Nieces, Alex, Ryker & Leo Schnyder, Kya Johnston, Kiyo & Benji Ohashi, Ella Wiffen & William & Maggie Paulson... Plus 3 cats & 2 dogs, and so many Cousins & extended Family & Friends.
In lieu of flowers or cards, if you wish to donate to your local SPCA, he would love that ...
