It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Dubois, on Tuesday January 26, 2010 in Vernon BC. Dad is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Eva; his two sons Jim (Heather) Vernon, BC; Rob (Theresa), Sherwood Park, AB, his grandchildren, Jaime Dubois, Saskatoon, SK; Kim Phelan (TG), Halifax, NS, Michelle Dubois, Edmonton, AB, and Danielle Dubois, Sherwood Park, AB. As well, dad leaves his two great granddaughters, Avery and Alexis, which unfortunately he never knew because of his struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Dad was born in 1922 in rural Saskatchewan. He attended elementary school in the Trewdale/Coderre area and attended high school in Weyburn, SK. At an early age, Dad learned how to fix everything that was fixable a trait that benefited us all in later years. We used to say if Dad can’t fix it, it can’t be fixed. At age 18, Dad joined the RCAF and was sent overseas during WW2. He was stationed at an airfield in the Shetland Islands in the North Sea. While there he was an aero-engine mechanic, working on the Bristol Beaufighter bomber and Spitfire fighter. After completion of service, he returned home and started a long career as a stationary steam engineer. He obtained his first class certification in the early 50s and started working for the Saskatchewan Provincial Government as a boiler and pressure vessel inspector; a career that lasted over 30 years. Dad was predeceased by his mother, Marion in 1961, his father Henry in 1986, and his only sister Henrietta in 1997. A memorial service for Frank will be held at Personal Alternatives Chapel (4417 – 29th Street, Vernon, B.C) on February 2 at 1:00 PM. We are going to miss you, Dad. Finally you will be at peace. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Gateby Care Residence. Expression of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via email: email@example.com.
