Herman Pischke


We regret to announce the death at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on May 2, 2006 of Herman Pischke, at the age of 88 years. Herman was born in Moosehorn, Man., and moved to Vernon in 1966. He was employed for a number of years by the Municipality of Coldstream, and also worked for V.I.D. and for Sasges Cement. He loved nature all of his life and was a devoted hunter and fisherman. He was a Life Member of the Halina Centre and an avid carpet bowler. Herman will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Jean; daughter Marlene (Boen) Teng of Delta; and sisters Lena Knutt of Stonewall, Man., and Thelma Schick of Winnipeg. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 6, at 2:00 P.M., in the chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, followed by a reception in the Tea Room on site. Mr. Brian Jackson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to do so may make donations in memory of Herman to either the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation, 202 – 3402 – 27th Ave., Vernon, V1T 1S1; or the Kidney Foundation of Canada, #320 – 1600W, 6th Ave., Vancouver, V6J 1R3.
