HILDA WILHELMINA FLAMAND (NEE NEIMOR)

April 10, 2016

‘til by turning, we turn round right,’— (Shaker Hymn)

On Sunday, April 10th, 2016, in the early morning hours, just before dawn, our Lord called our mother, Hilda Wilhelmina Flamand (nee Neimor) into resurrection life. Thankfully, she died peacefully in her sleep.

Hilda was preceded in death by her loving husband Edward; her parents, Emilia (Brenner) and Karl Neimor; and all of her seventeen siblings. She is survived by her sons, Ronald (Joanne) of Leduc County, AB and Mark of York, PA; grandchildren, Matthew, Renee-Lynn, Angela and Heidi; great-grandchildren, Theresa, Abbygail, Karma, Juele and Feya; sisters-in-law, Florence Neimor of Winnipeg, MB and Marion Neimor of Blairmore, AB; and many nieces and nephews.

Hilda was born and raised in Vibank SK, married Edward Flamand on September 6th, 1947, and was a full time mother to Ronald and Mark, who gave her much joy. She lived almost all of her first twenty-one years of marriage in CFB Shilo, MB and then moved to Vernon in 1968, where she resided for forty-five years prior to coming to Leduc County, AB. A lifelong disciple, she was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Vibank, SK. While residing in Vernon, Hilda and Ed were active members of Peace Lutheran Church for many years. In their latter years their home congregation was Living Word Lutheran Church. Hilda loved gardening, music, travelling, enjoying fellowship with other Christians and being with family. Though she was somewhat limited by sight, hearing and mobility issues later in life, she continued her joy of walking and of being outdoors to the very end.

We invite you to join us for Hilda’s Funeral Service which will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, April 15th, 2016 at Living Word Lutheran Church, 6525 Okanagan Landing Road, with a luncheon following in the Church Fellowship Hall. Interment will take place in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery at the conclusion of the Reception. If you can’t join us in person, light a candle, plant a flower, tree or bush and spend a few moments in prayer and reflection, giving thanks for the common eternal life we share through our baptism into Christ. We covet your thoughts and prayers as we prepare for her funeral.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ellerslie Road, Edmonton, AB on Friday, April 22nd, 2016 at 3:30 P.M. with a luncheon to follow.
