Howard James

Passed away at Gateby on March 13, 2007, at the age of 86 years. Howard was born in Vernon on May 12, 1920. He lived his entire life in Lumby and many will remember him for the many years he owned and operated his trucking business, “White Valley Transfer”. Howard, being the generous person that he was, rarely charged enough for his services, and many people would pay him more than he was asking. He was very conscientious, and always a gentleman. During the ‘50’s and early ‘60’s, he was a member of the Lumby Volunteer Fire Department. Howard is predeceased by his father, Walter James in 1925, his step-father, John Major in 1960, and his mother, Sadie Major in 1996. Also brothers Gordon James, Edwin Major, and sister Edythe Haycock. Surviving are George Major, Mel Major and Harold Major plus numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. If you would like to hear a little about Howard, come to the Memorial Service at White Valley Community Centre on March 24 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Vernon Funeral Home 542-0155.
