Ian Press

Ian Press

Ian passed away in Vernon, BC at Hospice House, surrounded by love. He was a man who could always be counted on to step up to the plate and get the job done. He loved his family and was a true and loyal friend.

Ian was predeceased by his parents, John and Pat; his father-in-law, Ray Corduff; and brother-in-law, Nicholas Corduff. Ian is lovingly survived by his wife and soulmate, Heather; his children: daughters, Ashley Press and Amber (Thomas) Johansen, and son, Nick; his treasured grandchildren: Vanessa Press, Marie, and Nora Johansen; sister, Nancy (Drew) Forsyth; mother-in-law, Meg Corduff; brother-in-law Nigel (Laura)Corduff; nephews, John Vick, and Emerson Corduff; his brothers by choice: Ivan Tanner, Steve Smith, Tim Polanski, and Fred Wade.

Ian was born in Ste. Foy, Quebec but was raised and spent most of his adult life in Ottawa where he worked for the Federal Government as one of the first employees at the newly formed Canada Centre for Remote Sensing (CCRS), retiring as an executive. Upon retiring, Ian and Heather fulfilled their dream of moving to Vernon where he could enjoy his lifelong love of golf, mountain sports, music, exploring beautiful B.C. and walks with his dog, Mollie. A strong believer in giving back to the community he loved, Ian volunteered with the Okanagan Science Centre and with Meals On Wheels.

The family would like to thank Dr. Louise Van Zyl for her professionalism, kindness and support and the many staff and volunteers at Hospice House for helping throughout this journey. At Ian’s request, there will not be formal service, rather the family will hold a private Celebration of life ceremony at a future date. For those wishing to honour Ian’s memory, the family prefers donations to the North Okanagan Hospice Society in lieu of flowers.

I can live my life in the hearts of all of you”
