Irene Frederika Engelbertink (nee Moller) July 14 1944 – February 1 2010. Irene was a woman of deep integrity, she was spiritual and loving. Despite the fact that she suffered from poor health much of her life, she had great inner strength, humour and wisdom to be a positive inspiration to others. She was always there to offer a helping hand, and touched many people’s lives.
Irene is survived by her loving husband Gerard Engelbertink of Lumby, children Akke Engelbertink (Rob) of Steveston and Remko Engelbertink (Kristi), grandsons Ryker and Logan Engelbertink in Terrace. Her sisters Puck Bosma (Jan) in the Netherlands and Wilhelmien Swinkels (Hein) in Denmark. Brother-in-law Sjoerd Engelbertink (Marian), sisters-in-law Catharina Engelbertink and Afke Mooibroek. Nephews Hendrik Jan Bosma (Heidi, Floris), Hans Peter Bosma (Lilian) all in the Netherlands, and Mark Swinkels (Dagmar)in the Czech republic. Nieces Sandra Swinkels (Kris), Maayke Mooibroek(Vincent), Marlijn Mooibroek (Areen) all in the Netherlands.
The family would like to thank the Vernon Cancer Centre for their compassionate and professional care of Irene during her long and courageous battle with breast cancer and the North Okanagan Hospice House for the loving care she received in her final days. Thank you as well to all the friends who have been there for us. A celebration of life will be held at the Inglewood Club House 1001-30th Ave in Vernon from 2-4pm on 06 March 2010.
