We are sad to announce the passing of a very special Mother and Grandmother at Hospice House.
She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Frank in 2005. Survived by sons, Terry (Anne), Leigh (Anita) and daughter Dodie (Bob) Lindley, grandchildren Taya (Jesse), Katie (Joseph), Michael and Lauren, sister Mary and brother Bill. Also left to miss her, are numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Isobel was born in Oxford Centre, Ontario. During her schooling years, she received several academic and public speaking awards. After meeting Frank on a blind date in Toronto, they eventually married in Woodstock, Ontario. Then Frank said “Now the war is over, we are moving back to God’s country!” They settled in Vernon in 1945 where they raised their three loving children.
In addition to a busy family life, Isobel worked for Bullman’s Cannery and Vernon Post Office until her retirement. Her interests included, Pythian Sisters, UCW Hi Lo Unit, travelling, baking for charities, knitting and her Friday night card games with the girls!
Throughout her life, Isobel was an incredible organizer. One of the last things she organized was a group of women to knit items for Tanzanian orphans.
The family and Isobel greatly appreciated the care and kindness received by staff at Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Isobel’s name can be made to North Okanagan Hospice Society. Memorial service details will be announced at a later date.
