Isobel passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends at Schaffer Residence at Oakside in Enderby on March 12, 2012.  Isobel was 95.

Isobel is survived by her loving family, sons; Bill Raikes and wife Janet Nitins of Vancouver, John Raikes and wife Judy Button of Vernon and daughter Miranda Hartstone, husband David, and grandsons Kyll Raikes and Travers Hartstone.

Isobel was a well-respected and longtime member of the community in Vernon for almost 60 years.  She was a WWII veteran, serving in the WRENS (Women’s Royal Naval Service).  Isobel was born and raised Ste-Anne de Bellevue, near Montreal; she served with the Wrens before moving to Vernon in 1955, where she raised her family. She was a long standing member of the Vernon Garden Club, and a Grand Master bridge player with the Vernon Bridge Club.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to all the loving, caring staff at Oakside who looked after her for over nine years.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm followed by a tea on Saturday March 17, 2012 at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home in Vernon.
