Jack Albert Weber passed away April 18, 2016 at 7:30 am, (about the time he used to go fishing), at 87 years old, as he had requested, at home with his family doing their very best to abide by his wish, supporting him until his last breath (while Mom was making his oatmeal porridge). Over the last while, Dad, in true Weber male fashion, was having a hard time grappling with the limitations of his failing body, and not being in control.

Dad leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 66 years, Maxine Naomi (Berry) Weber. As well, his very colourful spirit is carried on in his son, “Fred” Kerry Jack Weber (Brid), his daughter, “Babe” Marci Naomi Weber Adams (Brien), grandchildren “Peedie”Ailish (Travis), Tara, Adam (Leah), Jack (Lauren), Sara, Travis and 10 fabulous great grandchildren.

Thank you to the Vernon Hospital and their amazing staff … and once home, the community care aids, therapists, palliative care staff, etc., who worked tirelessly with us to make Dad’s last days comfortable. Special thanks to Dr. Lindsay Pritchett (Dr. P), for his knowledgeable care, never sugar coating anything and making sure we all knew exactly what to expect … which was right in line with Dad’s “Give it to me straight” saying. Dad got an extra 10 years from diagnosis, I’m sure, because of his care.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Spinal Cord Research, the B.C. Cancer Foundation or the B.C. Lung Association, in Dad’s name would be greatly appreciated.

Dad … as you motor off into uncharted waters, proudly at the helm, with the wind at your back and that peaceful look on your face that you only got while trolling and gazing out over the salt chuck, two rods out the back and your net ready, dipped for good luck … with hard boiled eggs and black coffee in your lunch box, we’ll be thinking of you along with all the other loved ones who are waiting for you, several nautical miles ahead on the dock … We’ll miss you forever......

“See ya’ later, Dad”
