It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Denison Routledge at his home in Vernon on February 11, 2004, at the age of 79 years. Jack was the loving husband of Margaret; father of John (Routledge) McConachie, Pat and Bruce; and grandfather of Denise and John Jr. McConachie, Sarah, Lisa, Amy, Nick and Jessica, and great grandfather of Michelle, Jessica, James and Cassie. If a person’s success were to be measured through their accomplishments in life, then Jack stands with great people. Honest, patient, loyal, trustworthy, hard-working, dedicated and loving just start to describe this man. He served two tours with Bomber Command (49 Squadron and 405 Pathfinder Sqn) and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, and after the War had a distinguished and long career with the R.C.M.P., retiring as a Chief Superintendent. Jack was an active member of the RCMP Veteran Organization and was a charter member of the Vernon Wing of the Airforce Association of Canada. He will be greatly missed by family and many dear friends. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to either Vernon Hospice House, 3506-27 Ave., Vernon, V1T 1S1; or B.C. Cancer Foundation, 200-601 West Broadway, Vancouver, V5Z 9Z9. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Wednesday, February 18, at 2:00 P.M., in the chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home. A Reception followed in the Tea Room. Arrangements were in the care of Vernon Funeral Home. 542-0155.
