Jacoba (Jackie) Martha Hutchison

Jacoba (Jackie) Martha Hutchison (nee Vanderhoek) Sept. 6, 1925 — Feb. 15, 2005. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, quietly and without pain, slipped away on a beautiful, sunny, Okanagan morning. Jackie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Wilson (Wil), daughters Laurie (Rob) Vanderhorst, Coraleen Hutchison, Charlene Hutchison, son George Hutchison, grandchildren Matthew, Jessica, Braden, Cody and Logan, all of her 10 siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, friends, special friends Ruth and Donna, faithful Uncle Bill and the family grandpets. Mom was an avid gardener, environmentalist, bird lover, and naturalist; she loved walking, music, books, her family and a good story. Her quick wit and sense of humour was well known to all and to her last day she was still interested in hearing the funny stories of her families’ daily lives. Upon Mom’s request, there will be no funeral service. At a later date there will be a tea to celebrate her life, share good stories and create new memories. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted at the Lupus Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Young Life and the Canadian Wildlife Federation or an organization of choice. For those who have already sent flowers, thank you so much for acknowledging Mom’s love of beauty, colour and all things living. Mom’s ashes will be spread at two of her favourite spots, Sovereign Lakes Ski Area and Kalamalka Provincial Park in a private family gathering. Mom, we have been blessed to have your guidance, courage, wisdom and wit. We are as proud of you and you are of us. We all love you. We are always together.
