Jim was born in Roblin, Manitoba on May 17, 1926. He was raised along with 10 siblings on a farm where his love of farm life began. Jim served in the army during WWII. He worked as a hard rock miner underground in Flin Flon, Manitoba after the war until 1960 when he moved to Surrey, BC. In Surrey, Jim managed a mink farm, ran his own small dairy and worked in a lumber yard. In 1968 Jim along with his family moved to Westwold, B.C. where he managed Lucas Ranch until 1985, then worked on several other ranches or farm holdings. Jim served as a Legion President for many years. His volunteer efforts were numerous for the many organizations in Westwold and Falkland areas. Jim was still an active member of the Falkland and District Sunday Morners Club. Jim’s sense of humour, friendliness and compassion will be missed forever by his loving family and friends.
Should friends desire, donations to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home, 72 Whiteshield Crescent, Kamloops, BC V2E 2S9 in memory of James would be appreciated.
