James (Jim) Forsyth
was born on June 16th, 1920 in Gourdon-By-Montrose, Scotland and passed away on January 9th, 2015 in the North Okanagan Hospice, Vernon, B.C. at the age of 94 years.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lena, to whom he was married for 69 years; two sons, James (Linda) and Robert (Dolores) of Vernon, B.C.; four grandchildren, James John (J.J.) (Courtney) and Matthew (Shannon) of Calgary, Alberta, Kimberly (Rob) of Didsbury, Alberta and Michael of Lethbridge, Alberta; one great-granddaughter, Catherine of Calgary, Alberta; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Peter, Dave, Ron and Jack; and three sisters, Marg, Jean and Annette.
Jim came to Canada when he was six weeks old and was raised and educated in Lethbridge, Alberta. He joined the Royal Canadian Artillery and served his country for the duration of World War II. Following his discharge from the Army Jim married Lena, the love of his life, on September 21st, 1945. He worked at various jobs and then found work with the Canadian Coleman Company, remaining with them for thirty years. Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed and whose memory will be forever cherished.
Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Jim’s Life which will take place at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 17th, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Dr. Teresa A. Charlton officiating. A Reception will follow in the Bethel Tea Room.
As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Jim to the Poppy Fund at your local Royal Canadian Legion or to the charity of your choice.
