James (Jim) Alfred Burdes passed away at the Gateby Care Residence on Sunday, November 27, 2005. He was 71 years of age. Jim was born in Trenton, Ontario in 1934 and lived in the Vernon area for the past 31 years. He will be greatly missed by his family: brother Clarence (Annabel) Burdes of Africa, children: Laurie (Bruce) Goff of Saskatchewan, John Burdes, Shannon Burdes of Vernon, Craig (Jenni) Burdes of North Vancouver, Darren Burdes (Ronda Dennison) of Saskatchewan, granddaughters: Marianne Masters of Saskatchewan, Celine Griffin of Vernon, sister-in-law: Maureen (Al) Sawatzky, nieces and nephews: Renee (Darren) Pain, Jeaneen (Dan) Briner, Nicole (Nelson) Borges, Shawn (Lori) Fowler, Nicola (David) Hoffman.
Jim was predeceased by his friend and former wife Donna Burdes in March 2005; and grandson Jim Masters. Through the years Jim worked as a millwright, a carpenter, a Jim-of-all-trades renovator, and was semi-retired as a pellet stove serviceman. Jim was passionate about reading and enjoyed classical music, gourmet cooking and socializing with his many friends. Thank you to all of the home support care aids, nurses, and doctors who cared for our dad.
A celebration of life for both Jim & Donna will be held in the spring of 2006. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
