1937 - 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim on November 14, 2016 in Vernon, BC. He was born on December 27, 1937 on the family farm in Saskatchewan. He came to Edmonton at an early age and was raised by Gordon and Eunice Smart. He took a welding apprenticeship and taught welding at NAIT before investing in a rig and going up to the oil patch. Before moving to Armstrong, he had a ranch at 100 Mile House and acreage on Wolfgang Road. He loved watching hockey, was an avid gardener, loved animals, hunting and fishing.

He leaves behind his loving spouse Louise Everest; children: Allan Everest, Wendy Hamaluk, Charles Everest, Terri Lekei; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters: Jean Tieffenbach, Rita Young; and cousins from his adopted family: Murray, Lorne, Gary, Carol, and Donna. Predeceased by sons: Dwight Everest and Brian Everest.
