Leavitt, James ElRoy
–Born November 9th, 1932 and passed away on September 4th, 2007 at 74 years of age. ElRoy is survived by his wife Katherine of 49 years and his children Martin, James, Brian (JoAnn) Slater, Teresa, Sandra (Edward) Lucas, and Floyd (Tracey), eleven loving Grandchildren and two great granddaughters and one great grandson. His surviving siblings LaFaye Crisp, Irene (James) Clarke, Gail Shellenberg, Grant (Marion), Mildred Workman, and Lyndon. He is predeceased by his parents Floyd and Garda Leavitt and two sisters Audrey (David) Penrod, and
Phyllis (Fred) Knoblick.
ElRoy was in the Military from 1955 – 1962 RCEME, PPCLI, RCAMC. He was honorably released, Officer in the Department of Justice Penitentiary Canada. ElRoy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter – Day Saints and held the office of Melchizedek Priesthood. His life was one of service with 25 years with St John Ambulance, 25 years IOOF Lodge and volunteered with the Canadian Diabetic Association as a leader. In 1978 on behalf of Queen Elizabeth was invested into the Order of St John with his name being entered on the Honor Roll at Buckingham Palace, Ophthamalic Hospital Jerusalem and Canada. ElRoy lived a good life and was always honest in his dealings.
Viewing will be held on Monday, September 10th, 2007, 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter – Day Saints, 1506 35th St, Vernon B.C. with service to follow. Flowers are gratefully declined, for those who wish, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
Internment will be in the Lakeview Memorial
