James Warren Mitchell
was born on November 11th, 1925 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin and passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on August 23rd, 2014 in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 88 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife; Sharon, to whom he was married for 24 years, his son; Scott (Laurie) Mitchell, his granddaughter; Jennifer Mitchell, his great-grandchildren; Austin, Colin and Caiden as well as his extended family members and friends. James was preceded in death by his 1st wife; Bernice in 1976 and by his parents; Dewey and Hazel Mitchell.
James served in the United States Marine Core during the second World War. He moved from the United States to Canada in 1973 and purchased a fishing resort on the Kisspiox River near Hazelton, B.C. He then moved to Vernon in 1980 where he enjoyed his retirement years. He was a great lover of the outdoors and the beauty of British Columbia and the sweeping views of the Coldstream valley. James loved gardening, reading and was very fond of animals.
In respecting James’s wishes, he was cremated and no funeral service will be held. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Arnold and the caregivers at Polson Extended Care North for your compassionate care given to James.
