It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of James “Jim” Richardson in Vernon, BC, on Friday, May 18th, 2007 at the age of 80. Jim was born July 5th, 1926 in Kisbey, Saskatchewan, the youngest son of Robert and Isabella Richardson. He was a special person, a friend to many and a deeply cherished and loving husband, father and grandfather by his family.
Jim lived a full and active life – he was successful at anything he set to motion – as a businessman and entrepreneur with Ranchland Meat Packers to his life-time passion – farming and ranching. He loved the outdoors and was actively involved with the Lumby OAP and Monashee 50+ Club. In his retirement years, Jim loved to camp, fish and travel and truly enjoyed the pleasures of good company – especially a good card game, a good laugh and the good times remembered with family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife Dianne, step-daughter Shawna (Roger) Green, children Dennis (Lynn), Linda (Peter) Vlasveld, Joanne Dewhurst (Neil) and Wendy (Andy) Sherman, all of Lumby. He is further survived by seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He will be missed and always remembered by his brother Alexander “Sandy” (Mary) of Devon, Alberta, sister, Peggy Copeland of Regina, Saskatchewan and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend extra special thanks to the nurses and doctors at Vernon Jubilee Hospital for their special care and compassion during Jim’s recent illness.
A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held on Sunday, May 27th, 2007 at 1:00 pm at the White Valley Community Center in Lumby. Reverend Ted Roworth officiating. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Arrangements in the care of Personal Alternative Funeral Services, Vernon & Armstrong, 546-7237.
