Wally was born on December 19th, 1925 in Vancouver, B.C. and passed away on December 17th, 2022 in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 96 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years; Barbara, his children; Heather, Wally and Bruce, his grandchildren; Angie (Drew), Ron, Debbie and Diane, his great-granddaughter; Alyssa, his sister; Beverly along with numerous extended family members and friends. Wally was preceded in death by his parents; James and Lillian and by his daughter; Nancy.
Wally served in the Navy during World War II. He was a Vancouver police officer for eleven years with the mounted squad. He was an editor and publisher of weekly newspapers in B.C. and owned his own advertising, marketing and public relations agency for twenty years. Wally was a distance runner all of his life and coached athletes for over 70 years in national and international competitions. At the age of 74, he was introduced to the teachings of Jesus which guided his life and brought him comfort and peace for the remainder of his life.
A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, December 28th, 2022 at Bethel Funeral Chapel. Interment followed in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Wally's service was live-streamed and can be watched anytime at the following link. https://virtualmemorialgatherings.com/memorial-services/wally-strang/
