Janet Margaret “Maggie” (Oliphant) Griffin

1942 – 2013

On October 25, 2013, Maggie passed away peacefully after an 8 year battle with cancer. She was born March 18, 1942 in Blairgowrie, Scotland and moved to Canada in 1968. She lived in New Westminster and Surrey before retiring to Enderby, BC in 2004.

Maggie is predeceased by her parents: Douglas and Mina; and her beloved Aunt Betty.

She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years: Gordon, and her faithful companion Sadie. Also surviving her is only brother: George (Jean); niece: Sharon; nephew: Steven and their children, all of England.

Maggie had a kind soul, a heart of gold, and was a friend to all her knew her; she was blessed with an abundance of close personal friends who will feel her loss for many years to come. Maggie enjoyed reading, knitting, entertaining, and was a regular at the Wheels to Meals lunch on Wednesdays. She was a member of the United Church, active in UCW, a social curler, and much to Gordon’s chagrin, loved her computer games with a little white wine. Her love of travel took her to Europe, the Caribbean, and Hawaii but she always loved to come back home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at St. Andrew’s United Church (1106 Belvedere St, Enderby) with a tea to follow in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a memorial donation in Maggie’s name to St. Andrew’s United Church (1106 Belvedere St, Enderby, BC V0E 1V0) or the SPCA – Salmon Arm Branch (1245 East 7 Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5T 1R1).
