Edith Janet Parkyn
Edith passed away peacefully on April 25, 2008 at the age of 75 at the Rotary Hospice House in Prince George BC.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter Luanne (Stacey) and by her two sons Lyle (Sau Lan) and Dale.
She took great pride and joy in her three grandchildren Colin, Sean and Elizabeth all of whom shall miss her immensely. She is also survived by her brother Harold Berg
(Eleanor) of Vernon BC and her niece, nephews and various cousins both in Canada and the United States.
Edith was born October 17, 1932 in Lloydminister, Alberta to John and Jennie Berg. She was raised on the family farm in Rivercourse, Alberta. She made her home in Vernon, Vancouver and Prince George, but Alberta will always be her true home.
She was an incredibly accomplished musician and accredited music teacher. She attended Banff School of Fine Arts and was associated with the BC Registered Music Teachers Association, the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto, and Western Board of Music.
Edith was a devoted pianist and organist, with over fifty years of teaching and playing professionally. Among her accomplishments, she played for over 3000 weddings as well as numerous performances as guest pianist/organist with various choirs and symphony orchestras throughout her amazing life. For many years she was the organist for numerous churches throughout British Columbia and Alberta.
There will be no service as per her request. Her family will travel to Alberta for an inurnment ceremony at the family plot in Dina, Alberta. In lieu of flowers a donation to the B.C. Cancer Society or Parkinsons’s Society of B.C. would be greatly appreciated.
