BERNDT, Jean Elizabeth

Our Mom passed away peacefully to be with her Lord on April 10th, 2012 at the age of 85.

Mom was born in Brandon Manitoba in 1926. In the early years of the Depression, Mom and her family moved to Vancouver. With older brother, Dan, at the helm of the Chevrolet, the journey took two weeks. Mom grew up in the Vancouver area but moved to Calgary as a young woman. Here she met our Dad, Marvin. They were married in 1950 and relocated back to the Lower Mainland before our Dad passed away in 1968. In 1969, Mom moved the family to Armstrong where she remained for forty years, until her move to Vernon in 2009. Mom loved her farm and all her animals, including two horses, “Trixie” and “Jeremy”, and more recently her two kitties, “Tippie” and “Simba”.

Mom is survived by five sons: Bernie (Yvonne), Reinie (Liz), Garry (Joan), Ed (Darlene), Dave (Cathy); one daughter, Elizabeth (Brent); and her sister, Clara. Grandma Berndt is further survived by twenty-one grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin; sister Mary; brothers: Dan, Gerry, Albert, and John.

Prayers will be recited at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church on Sunday, April 15th, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church on Monday, April 16th, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Father Dale Normandeau and Reverend Father George LaGrange, Celebrants.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Jean may do so to The Carmel of St. Joseph, 4815 Salmon River Road, Armstrong, BC V0E 1B4
