August 19, 1934 - September 18, 2018
Sadly, the Franklin Family announce the peaceful passing of our Mother Jean Franklin at Centennial Place in Millbrook Ontario with her family at her side.

Jean was born & raised in London England and educated as a highly skilled secretarial administrator. She married Eric Franklin May 9, 1953 and in 1956 they travelled to start a new life in Canada with their eleven-month-old daughter, Gillian. The family grew with the births of Steven, Barbara and Michael, and the family enjoyed living in Toronto, Aurora, Kingsville, and Windsor, Ontario. Jean worked many years in secretarial positions while always contributing greatly to her family, church, and community. She enjoyed working for 24 years in the Physics Department at the University of Windsor, and retired to Vernon in 1995. She enjoyed several years participating with the Naturalist Club and the Allan Brooks Nature Centre, and she was an active member of All Saints Anglican Church. She was also a dedicated subscriber to a number of community events, but especially the arts & crafts, musical, and performing arts events in the Vernon area. She had a great love of spending time in the outdoors, especially hiking and gardening. She was a skilled knitter and sewer, and designed and created many needlepoint works of art. But, most of all, Jean was an avid reader.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Eric Franklin, and son-in-law Terry Coe. She is survived by her children, Gillian Wolfe (Joe), Steven Franklin (Dawn Marie), Barbara Franklin, Michael Franklin (Jennifer), grandchildren Jennifer Hall, Keith Hall, Rynnae Vickery, Geoffrey Wolfe, Meghan Hamilton, Heather Franklin, great grandson Finn Hall, and a great many nephews and nieces.

The family would like to thank all of Jean's caregivers in recent years, especially those at Centennial Place in Millbrook.

The family of the late Jean Franklin will be holding a service of remembrance in loving memory of Jean at All Saints Anglican Church on Monday October 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated for the All Saints Anglican Church Hall Building Fund or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vernon Funeral Home, Phone: 250 542 0155.
