Jean Stephens (nee Davidson)

Jean Stephens (nee: Davidson)

January 17th, 1912 – March 25th, 2009

Jean passed away on March 25th, 2009 in Noric House at the age of 97.

She is survived by her loving family: her daughter, Gerry (Don) McLeod, her son, Gordon Henderson, nine grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Jean was predeceased by her first husband, Bernard Henderson, her second husband, Karl Stephens, her daughter, Mary Jean Kidd and her four brothers and one sister.

Jean was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and moved with her family to Canada, living mostly in Ontario until 1976 when she moved to the Shuswap. Then in 1995, she moved to Vernon to be closer to her daughter, Gerry. She was a secretary, a farmer’s wife and an entrepreneur. In Ontario, Jean operated a boarding house, owned and operated nursing homes, including a 50 bed hospital setting for male mental patients. She had a passion for dancing, curling, golfing, reading and especially for playing bridge and traveling.

A private family celebration will be held in June with all her family members gathering to reflect her influence on each and every one of them.

Rest in peace, Mom. We love you.
