Joan Salt

February 8, 1934 - July 16, 2018
It is with profound sadness that we announce that Joan Salt passed away July 16, 2018 at Hospice House in Vernon at the age of 84, after a long battle with cancer.  

 Joan was born in Vernon on February 8, 1934 to Arthur and Annie Beasant and lived in Vernon all her life.  She married Arthur Salt, her husband of 63 years, in 1954.  

She is survived by her husband Art, her daughters Judy (Rob) Bradley, Terry (Bruce) Davies and Lisa (Gord Fowler) Salt, her grandchildren Jared, Sarah, Michael, Kim, Dustin, Michelle, Cody and Shane, and her many great grandchildren. Joan was predeceased by her parents, her sister Vera and her infant great granddaughter Adeline Joan.  

Joan had a great love for animals and as such, one of the founding members of the Vernon S.P.C.A. and then the Vernon and District Animal Care Society. She loved her dogs, cats and every other animal, bird, rodent and insect with such ferociousness that her family often made fun of her. She loved her Monday lunches with her friends Vera and Dorothy, spending time with her many tai chi and trapshooting friends, shopping and her Friday lunches with her daughters. Joan loved first and foremost her dogs and cat (husband and kids second!), a good practical joke, a scary horror movie, listening to Barry White, and Frank Sinatra, gazing at Robert Stack and enjoying her home on Okanagan Lake. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 2 PM.  Those attending are encouraged to wear something yellow in honour of Joan's favourite colour.
