Our dear son and brother, Joey Douglas Duerksen was born to Doug and Edna (Esau) Dureksen on January 9, 1987 at Three Hills, Alberta. His short life ended in a tragic vehicle accident on Saturday, November 11, 2006, at Armstrong, BC not far from where he lived.
Joey had a very caring and outgoing personality, being a friend to all without respect of persons. He readily went the second mile to help, literally giving the shirt off his back. Joey enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding his mountain bike on trails that were often too steep to walk.
He leaves to mourn him his grieving parents, four sisters Becky and husband Kendall Peaster of Grant, Nebraska, Kerie, Laura and Angela and one brother Marcus all at home; maternal grandparents Edwin and Irene Esau, paternal grandparents Dave and Dorothy Duerksen all of Enderby as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins; Tim and Jo Meissner and son Matthew – Joey’s “foster” dad and mom over the past several years and many, many friends.
A Funeral Service was held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Enderby, Interment in Cliffside Cemetery. Arrangements in the care of Personal Alternative Funeral Services, Armstrong, 546-7237.
