Aug 24, 1932 - Mar 23, 2018
We are sad to announce the passing of our father at the age of 85. Dad had a great life.  He was born on Grand Calumet Island, Quebec to Prosper and Valeda Lemaire. At the age of 21 he traveled west and settled for a short time in St. Paul, Alberta where he met and married Alice Charron on November 24th, 1955.  A few years later, they settled in Armstrong, BC where they raised their family.

Dad had a strong work ethic his whole life. He was a miner, a faller and after moving to Armstrong, worked at Buckerfield's for 34 years until his retirement in 1993. Along the way, he also learned the skills needed to build numerous homes for himself and his family. In addition to taking on various second jobs throughout his life, he believed in giving back to his community as a volunteer.

St. Joseph's Catholic Church was very important to Dad and he spent countless hours volunteering with church activities. He was also a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. An avid sports fan, he was instrumental in the mid 1970s in helping to bring back organized Minor Lacrosse to Armstrong, for which he was recognized.

He was content with the simpler things in life. His happiness was found in spending time with family or helping others. He loved gardening, fishing, travel, soaking in hot pools and spending time watching his children and grandchildren in all their activities.

Dad was predeceased by his wife Alice of 49 years. He was a loving father to Adrien (Patti) Lemaire, Suzanne (Ken) James, and Paul (Pamela) Lemaire. Precious Papa to Braden, Connor, Brandi, Dexter, Melanie and Adam. Grand Papa to Leah.

He is survived by his wife Madeleine Albert and is loved and remembered by his step children Catherine, Paul, Dan, Marie, David, Anne and their families. He was predeceased by his step-son Tom and his step-granddaughter Taylor.

He is survived by his sisters Albertine (Lucien), Jean d'Arc, and brother Marcel (Lucie) from Quebec and Ontario, extended family and many friends.  He will be deeply missed by all.

We would like to thank Dr. Viljoen, the Haugen medical team, the doctors and nurses at Vernon Jubilee Hospital and community health services for their thoughtful, dignified and compassionate care during our father's illness.

Prayers will be recited Friday, April 6th at 7:00 pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.EThe funeral mass and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 7th at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Armstrong followed by a reception in the church hall.
