Passed away Oct. 9th at 91
years of age. Al was born
in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan and moved to Vernon in 1926 where his father W.S. Harris was employed by the Vernon Daily News, becoming its managing editor & then owner.
Al received his education at Central School, now known as Bearisto. At
outbreak of war he joined the airforce, first with R.A.F. and then R.C.A.F. serving as rear air-gunner, doing missions over Europe, Italy & North Africa. Returning
to Vernon he worked for the Federal Government, first with Unemployment Insurance & then Canada Manpower.
Along with wife Jean, celebrating 60 years of marriage this June, he is survived by son Bill (Fran), grandchildren Mark,
Jillian, Katie & Anne, great grandson
John & daughter-in-law Dale. He was
predeceased by younger son Ron in April.
Al assisted with The Theraputic
Riding Association for some time,
was chairman of Vernon Winter Carnival,
member of Kinsmen & Senator Club.s He was a member of Vernon Golf & Country Club for over 40 years, being president for 2 terms.
He requested there be no service or
