John Biel

was born on May 7th, 1933 in Moragy, Hungary and was called Home to be with his Lord on September 20th, 2013 at the age of 80 years.

John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Katie, to whom he was married for 55 years; one son, Brian Biel of Victoria, B.C.; two daughters, Kathy Biel of Richmond, B.C. and Betty (Dale Galbraith) Ledgerwood of Calgary, Alberta; one granddaughter, Reeve Galbraith of Calgary, Alberta; and several extended family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Gloeckner.

John came to Vernon from Germany as a young man in 1949 with his mother and settled in Vernon where he worked for the City of Vernon for 37 years. He loved the outdoors and spent many happy days at the family cabin on Shuswap Lake enjoying nature and the abundant wildlife there.

Cremation preceded a Celebration Of John’s Life which will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Friday, September 27th, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Roy White officiating. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of John to the War Amps, National Amputee Centre, 2827 Riverside Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K1V 0C4.
