John (Jack) McLean Faulkner

1935 – 2014

John passed away with his loving wife at his side on Saturday, May 3, 2014.

Born November 29, 1935 in Merritt, BC, he is survived by his wife of 47 years, Della; daughter: Della (Phil) Pelletier; son: Andy (Jen); grandchildren: Jack, Mackenzie, and Anna. He will be greatly missed by his sisters: Elinor, Dawn, and Margaret; sister-in-laws: both Marion’s, Irene, Lorna, Frances, and Marilyn; and his dog Storm.

John lived most of his life in Enderby. He drew many friends through his talent for story-telling, his love of a good (practical) joke, but especially through the generosity of his time, attention, and actions. He was patient, honest, fair, and open.

He had many passions: brittany spaniels, hockey, curling, hunting, fishing, downhill skiing, cards, and wood working. He also loved his work as a plumber. A mechanical genius and a whiz at math, he could fix anything and everything. He took pride in the excellence of his work and encouraged his children to pursue excellence in their own ways.

But most of all, John was a family man and a father and a friend to many more than just Della, Dell, and Andy. His love and caring shaped us all. Knowing he was proud of us will help us carry on. We will miss you Dad.

In honour of his days as a minor hockey coach, donations may be made to the North Okanagan Minor Hockey (3303 37 Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 5J8).

There will be a tea in his memory on Saturday, May 10, 2014, starting at 1:00pm at the Enderby Curling Club (1605 Kate Street, Enderby, BC). Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at
