John Douglas Fraser
(July 14, 1931 – April 3, 2012)
John passed peacefully, with his wife by his side, at his home in the early morning of April 3, 2012. Born in Okotoks, AB, John was pre-deceased by his Parents Alex and Ethel Fraser. Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Frances Fraser (nee Burke) and their 5 children Michael Fraser (Holli), Jody Love, Kim Fraser, Shannon Fraser & Kelly Hunter (Barclay).
Known as Popo to his twelve granchildren Jonah (Tammy), Morgan, (Yvonne), Shane, Matthew (Emma), Andrew, Shannon (Stephen), Lisa (Curran), Tyler, Benjamin (Dawn), Casey (John), Joshua, Michaela and his 4 Great Grandchildren Alex, Takiya, Etta and Zachary. He is also survived by his sisters Dorothy Bell (Harold) and Marilyn Rugg (Harold).
John and Fran spent their first year of marriage farming in Olds, AB then moved to Calgary where they raised their children. John operated his own farm equipment business with his son Michael. Fran & John retired to B.C. where they spent time enjoying family and friends, golfing, boating and playing pool with the “boys” Stan and Bill. His favorite winter vacations were spent in Arizona and Hawaii.
John’s greatest passion in life was spending time with his family.
The family would like to invite you to attend a celebration of John’s life this Saturday, April 7 at 2:00 at Inglewood Clubhouse, 1001 – 30 Ave, Vernon, B.C. A celebration will also be held in Calgary, AB at a later date – to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
