John Matheas Hilsendeger of Saanichton B.C. passed away at the age of 81 on June 14, 2007 in the Sannich Peninsula Hospital, leaving behind his wife Doris. He also leaves to cherish his memory, a son Wayne (Rose) of Edmonton, daughters, LaVerne (Kim) Westberg of Arizona, Elaine (Dennis) Beierbach of Medicine Hat, and Carol (Bob) Smith of California. Grandchildren, Trevor (Sayo), Derek, Amy, Krista (Brad), Kevin (Erin), Colin, Laura, Corinna, and Carmen. Great grand daughters, Kimura and Hayden.
John was born June 20, 1925 in Bow Island Alberta. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Regina Hilsendeger, an infant brother Joseph, two sisters Elizabeth Folk and Mary Elle. Surviving him are sisters, Barbara (Hephner), Martha (Schuster), Eva (Schafer), a brother Tony (Barbara), a brother in law Albert Elle, and numerous nieces, nephews.
For many years John farmed in Saskatchewan before making his home in Medicine Hat Alberta, where he tried his hand at various jobs. He was a successful contractor and continued his building profession when he moved toVernon B.C. in 1970. He later retired on Vancouver Island, where he remained until his death.
