John “Jack” Fredrick Daynes Broomfield

Jack passed away peacefully in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Friday, July 9th, 2010 with his loving family at his side.

He joined the RCMP in 1957 and spent the next 29 years doing a job he was so proud to do. During his career, the majority of his service time was spent throughout BC. However, his 4½ year posting to headquarters in Ottawa during the 1970’s was a real eye opener for him. Jack was an avid model airplane builder, stamp collector and nature lover – especially birds.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marje, of Vernon, one son, Brent Broomfield, of Vernon, one daughter, Lynne Patterson of Armstrong, four grandchildren, Shandra, Levi, Jasmine, and Darrien who were the loves of his life, one brother, Terry (Beth) of Courtenay, BC, his pets, Duchess and Ace, and Jack’s extended family, Ray Patterson, and Trista Hejslet.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 16th, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Thompson officiating. Interment in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Desert Cove Recreation Center.

In lieu of flowers, those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Jack may do so to the John Mingu: RCMP Memorial Youth Academy, 3402 – 30th Street, Vernon, BC, V1T 5E5.
