Dec 19, 2017
With great sadness, we announce that John Joseph Shaw passed away on December 19, 2017 at the age of 88 years.

He is fondly remembered and sadly missed by his loving wife, Sonnia Shaw; and by his numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, step-children, grandchildren and friends.

John was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Katharina Shaw (nee Ludwig), as well as his brothers Raymond Shaw (Alice), Benjamin Shaw (Betty), and Charles Shaw (Sharon).

John worked much of his life in the mill and lumber industry, mostly in the Penticton area, as well as Okanagan Falls. He was a member of the IWA before retiring in 1990. An avid hockey fan, John was especially fond of The Penticton Vees, and was a season ticket holder and rarely missed a game.

He enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing and hunting. John also loved to read, and was interested in a wide range of topics. He had a sense of Country and Western aesthetic, and often wore his favourite cowboy hat. John grew up near Readlyn, Sask., as well as Vernon, B.C., and later spent much of his adult life in the Penticton area.

A Service of Remembrance will be held in the Spring - to be announced at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family through www.providencefuneralhomes.com. 250-493-1774
