In Loving Memory ~
John was born in Manchester to Eric and Bette. The family emigrated to Canada in 1951, starting off in Toronto before making their way west to BC.
An avid traveller, gardener, rock wall builder and passionate sailor, John met the love of his life, Robin, in 1978. They welcomed daughter Lillie in 1981 and son, Clayton, in 1985. A year later, the family moved to Armstrong, where they purchased an asparagus farm. John volunteered as a paramedic, and ran a successful business in Vernon, BC.
In 2003, the family moved to Okanagan Lake, where they built their own dream home. John volunteered as a fireman and worked in mining exploration. Throughout his life, John pursued his passion for sailing and sailed on Okanagan Lake and the coast.
Retirement suited John to a tee. He joined a choir, welcomed grandkids, sailed as much as possible, and loved his faithful lab, Molly.
John is predeceased by his mother Bette (1981), brother Mike (2017), father Eric (2020), and brother Paul (2022).
John has a large, loving family and is deeply missed by his wife Robin; children David (Angie), Lillie (Kaylee), and Clayton (Kelly); grandchildren Kaia, Kina, Louella, and Lochlan; brother Richard; sister Bridget (Graham); nephew Adam (Mia); and sister-in-law Jennifer.
The family would like to thank all the dedicated staff at VJH Cancer Clinic, and particularly the team at Community Care Nursing, for their care and compassion for John and our family.
