JOHN PATRICK ROMAINE, a resident of Armstrong for 34 years, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2003, in Seattle, Washington, at the age of 64 years. Survived by loving family: wife, Margaret; sons, Siôn, Seattle WA, Owen, Vancouver, B.C., Glyn, Burnaby, B.C. two brothers, Mike of Vancouver and Dan of Grand Forks. Further survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Born Monday, November 26, 1938, in Trail, B.C. Grew up in Red Deer and Castlegar. Graduated from U.B.C. in 1962, taught in Rutland, B.C. and Hay River, NWT. Met Margaret in Hong Kong in 1966; they were married in Wales in 1967. They moved to Montreal and then to Armstrong in 1969, where Pat was very active in the community. He was a founding member of the Armstrong Museum and Archives Society, served on the Board of Directors for the Armstrong Co-op and Armstrong-Spallumcheen Savings and Credit Union, and was involved with the Friends of Fintry Provincial Park Society. For a few years he was a member of Asparagus Theatre and a parade marshal for the I.P.E. For 33 years he was actively involved as a teacher and librarian at A.L. Fortune Secondary School. Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2003, at the A.L. Fortune School, 500 Bass Ave., Enderby, B.C., with the Rev. Lorraine Powell officiating. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the J. Patrick Romaine Memorial Scholarship at A.L. Fortune or PVSS. Messages of sympathy may be emailed to the family at Mountain View Funeral Home in Armstrong in charge of arrangements.
