SAIKO, John Bob

John, long term resident, passed away August 27th, 2014. He was born in Lake Eliza, St. Paul, Alberta on June 4th, 1932. At the age of 10 he moved to Fort Langley and at the age of 22 he moved with his family to Wildwood, Alberta where he farmed with his Dad and met his wife of 60 years, Olga. John moved his family to Vernon in 1965 (49 years ago) and worked for the City of Vernon as an equipment operator. He worked hard all of his life and was a skilled man in every profession.

He loved to dance and was proud to be a part of the Pattern Dancers’ Team. John loved fishing, boating, camping, and vacationing in Mexico. Everyone who knew him will remember that he loved to talk, but most of all he loved when his family was around. My beloved husband, our Dad, was a very proud man who loved life. He was a fighter right to the very end. He leaves behind: his loving wife, Olga; two sons, James (Geraldine) of Armstrong and Samuel (Anita) of Edmonton, AB; two daughters, Gloria Green of Victoria and Betty Friedrick of Vernon; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three sisters: one brother; numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

John, you will be missed but not forgotten.

The family would like to thank the medical profession for all their assistance.

The funeral service will be held at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. (Family and friends wishing to pay their respects to John may do so prior to service time.) Following the Committal in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, family and friends are invited to a reception in the Tea Room of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home.
