John S. Salmon

We are saddened to announce the passing of Jack Salmon on May 29, 2011 after a series of complicated illnesses.

Jack was born in Morrisburg, Ontario in 1927, the son of Edson and Maude Salmon. He was educated in Morrisburg and attended university in Ottawa and at MacDonald College in Montreal, where he graduated with an honours degree in chemistry.

Jack started his career with General Mills Canada in Toronto. He married Mary Jane Leckie in 1956. Following the birth of their son, Rick, they moved to Cobourg, Ontario where Jack worked for General Foods for 14 years. Their daughter, Karen was born in Cobourg. He subsequently continued his career at Standard Brands and worked through to his retirement at Sun Pac Foods, where he was a Technical Supervisor for 17 years.

Jack and Mary Jane retired to Coldstream in 1992 where Jack took up a part time retirement career as an art framer for Chimo Gallery, although his golf took priority.
