It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to John Schellenberg who passed away peacefully in Hospice House with his cousin, Jack and his wife Betty Peters at his side to comfort him. John was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and worked as a miner, logger and Highway Patrol in B.C. He worked in Calgary, Alberta in the late 1960’s and moved to Vernon in the early 1970’s. When K-Mart opened here he was the Security Manager, a position he continued to hold until his retirement. He is survived by his five children; Darlene, Edward, Linda, James and David, twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two sisters; Kathy Dubbin and Helen Johnston. Although we grieve his departure, we will celebrate his life at a Funeral Service which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Thursday, March 30th, 2006 at 1:30 P.M. with Reverend Henry Friesen officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Those wishing to do so may send donations in memory of John to Hospice House, 3506-27th Avenue, Vernon, B.C. V1T 1S4.
