It is with great sadness that we announce the death of MR. JOHN WILLIAM (JACK) LATTENVILLE, in his 81st year. Jack died peacefully on Saturday, June 28th, 2003 after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Bodmin, Saskatchewan. Jack joined the Canadian Army in 1939 and served in WWII, arriving in France on D Day Plus One. After returning home to Saskatchewan, he married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Egeland. They moved to Alberta and raised four children. Jack was a Master Carpenter and supervised many Southern Alberta projects. Jack and Mary semi-retired to Vernon in 1975 where Jack started his own construction company, completing many projects in the Vernon area. One of his hobbies was growing a vegetable garden, producing wonderful tomatoes, strawberries and raspberries. He loved to travel and visited England, Norway, Reno and enjoyed an Alaskan cruise. Spending time with family and friends was his greatest joy. There was always a friendly card game, lots of discussions and good food offered at “Grampa’s and Gramma’s” house. He offered his many grandsons and granddaughters help and advice. Husband, Dad, Grampa, Brother, Uncle and Friend will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Mary, to whom he was married for 56 years, his son, John Wm. Jr. and his family, Dana Tucker, Angie & Justin, Melissa, Ryan, Blake, his daughter, Ellie and her family, Len Letawsky, Amy & Dave and Jennifer, Chad & Christine, Dana, his daughter Arleen and her family, Brian Krause, Paul & Robyn, Adam & Melanie, Treva & Al, Corey & Jaclyn, Ryan & Patty, his daughter, Elaine and her family, Jack Borden, Rob & Lorrie, David & Amber, Christopher & Sara and Taylor and Sedonia, his sister, Bernice Krause, his brother, Fred Hamilton and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A Celebration Of Life Service will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Monday, July 7th, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. Cremation will follow. As an expression sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Jack to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetic Association or the Myasthenia Gravis Society of America.
