1932 – 2016

It is with profound sad-ness that we announce the peaceful passing of John at home in Vernon, BC on December 30, 2016. John leaves to mourn his wife Claire of 60 years; daughters Terry, Beverly, and Wendy (Wendell); son Russell (Rose); grandsons James (Katheren) and Bradley (Madeline); great twin grandsons Treton and Kaden; and sisters Bernice, Teresa (Barney) and Mary.

John was a gifted mechanic and an honest and ethical businessman. He owned and operated Sieben’s Auto Sales in Victoria, Kelowna, Sicamous, Vernon, and lastly in Armstrong where the integrity of his character was shared with the citizens of BC when his business made front page news in The Province for returning a large sum of money found in a vehicle that had been traded in. The story was also published in the local newspaper and broadcast on radio stations in BC and Alberta.

Although his loss of hearing progressed, he kept his witty sense of humour, continued to play his harmonica, and was a “little Johnny” until the end.

A private celebration of life will be held for family members. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society.
