Born April 17th, 1930, Johnny
Low (Lai Chiu) passed away on
November 8th, 2006, after a valiant fight against cancer. Johnny is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lai Ping, 6 children, Wah Fee Low (Shirley), Leley Neudorf (Leonard), Kim Low (Jun), Keley Low, Guy Low (Holly), and Meley Pine (Pat), and 14 grandchildren. Johnny
immigrated to Canada in 1954 and worked in his grandfather’s restaurant before opening his own restaurant, the Hong Kong Village, on June 5th, 1965. It quickly became a passion for both Johnny and Lai Ping. Many friends will remember Johnny personally serving his special Chinese
‘tea’ and his luncheon combination, ‘Police Special’. Johnny and Lai Ping retired in December 1997, and enjoyed many trips to Hong Kong and China. During his retirement, Johnny and his wife, Lai Ping, were often seen at their favourite recreational
activity, Casino Nights. Over the course of his life, Johnny helped many relatives and friends immigrate to Canada.
He made many loyal friends. The family wishes to thank in particular Kenny and Alice Wong for their lifetime support,
and the staff at the Vernon Cancer Centre, Vernon Jubilee
Hospital and the Vernon and District Hospice Society.
The family also wishes to thank their numerous relatives and friends for their kindness and special memories.Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on
Saturday, November 18th, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. with Mr. Brian
Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Johnny may do so to the Dr. Baerg/McMurtry Cancer Centre, or theVernon Jubilee Hospital, Foundation both in c/o Vernon Jubilee Hospital, 2101 – 32nd Street, Vernon, BC V1T 5L2, or the Vernon and District Hospice Society, 3506 – 27th Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4.
