It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our beloved father, Joseph Theodore Edwards on Sunday, February 8th, 2009 at the age of 88 years.
Joe was a veteran of WWII. He trained with the RCAF and flew with the RAF as a fighter pilot from 1941 to 1945 being stationed in Burma.
Joe was a man of many talents and varied interests. His love of nature was evidenced in the immense enjoyment he found in fishing, golfing and gardening; in the time and effort given to being instrumental in developing the Sovereign Lake Cross Country Ski Trails. He enjoyed curling, tai-chi, playing pool, loved to tell stories and enjoyed all types of music. Joe was also a history buff who loved languages. He traveled the world, and yet, there was nothing and no one he loved more than his family.
Joe is survived by is loving family: two daughters, Molly(Bob) Newman of Washington, USA and Louise (James Marsh) Edwards of Edmonton, Alberta; two sons, Joe C. (Georgina Eden) of North Vancouver, B.C. and Michael (Luanne) of Brantford, Ontario; six grandchildren: Jim Hill, Debbie Stratton, Rebeccah Marsh, Matea Kulic, Laura and Alice Edwards; six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and many dear friends. He was predeceased in 2008 by his loving wife, Grace, to whom he had been married to for 63 years.
In lieu of flowers, those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Joe may do so to the Gateby Intermediate Care Residence, 3000 Gateby Place, Vernon, B.C., V1T 8V8.
The family extends their most heartfelt thanks to the staff at Canterbury Court for their loving care and kindness shown to their father.
