Joseph Warick

Passed away peacefully at the Vernon and District Hospice House on Monday, Nov. 6, 2006.

surrounded by his loving family after a brief struggle with cancer.

He will be forever remembered by his loving

wife of 62 years, Emilie, daughter, Janie and her husband George LaBrash (Vanderhoof), son Robert and his partner Dea Freschi (White Rock), as well as six grandchildren, Kathleen, Danny, Meghan, Sara, Rachel, Nadine and her husband Ondrej, and three great grandchildren, Ayla,

Nikkalette and Joshua.

He is survived by two sisters Machaeline (Mickey) and Pauline, and brother John, and predeceased by sister Helen and brothers Michael and Felix (Phil).

Joe will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great

grandfather, and as a hard working, gentle, and generous man who focused his life around his family, his long career as a mining engineer, and his


From humble beginnings as a member of a large prairie farm family, he

became a school teacher, served as a navigator with the rank of Flying

Officer during WWII, and following his return to the University of

Saskatchewan, rose to become a senior Vice President of Hudson’s Bay

Mining and Smelting where he worked for 30 years.

He will be remembered by many for his love of fishing, dancing, gardening,

curling, playing crib, and his involvement in senior’s activities in Vernon.

Following his retirement in 1979, Joe and Emilie settled in Vernon where he played an active role in the Vernon senior’s community especially the Helena Centre and the Schubert Centre where he had many friends and held several volunteer administrative positions.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, Nov. 13/06 at 10 a.m. at St. James Roman Catholic Church at 2607 27th Street, Vernon, BC. With The Reverend Father Martin Peyton Celebrant Inurnment of ashes to follow at the Pleasant Valley cemetery at 4303 Pleasant Valley Road with a reception to follow at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home. If so desired, in lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Vernon and District Hospice House 3506 27th, Ave., Vernon, BC V1T 1S4.
