November 17, 1936 – July 14, 2010
After a courageous battle with cancer, Joy passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Wednesday, July 14, 2010.
Joy was a loving wife, amazing mom and avid golfer. Joy enjoyed many trips to Arizona with her best friend and companion, John. She created a beautiful home and garden which she lovingly tended to, providing a warm and welcoming environment for those around her. John and Joy would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 23rd.
Joy leaves behind her husband and biggest supporter, John, her three children, Cindy Ross of Kelowna, Cori Ross of Whistler and Tom Ross of Vernon. Grandchildren, Cassandra and Jared, sisters, Gayle Palmer, Sheila Henshke, Doris Adamoski of Vernon and Doreen Thomson of Vancouver and a surviving brother, Clarence McLean of High Prairie and many nieces and nephews from her large family.
Joy had many talents, but her main talent was that of a mom. Her meals were legendary, being an amazing cook. She was the captain of all holiday and family events. Joy will be immensely missed as the matriarch of her loving family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Respecting Joy’s wishes, she was cremated and no funeral service will be held.
